Join us Thursday, October 13th for the second event in Haymarket's Charitable Barrels: Whiskey by the Cause series, sponsored by Buffalo Trace. We'll be welcoming guest bartenders from Chicago's premiere whiskey bar and artisanal gastropub, Longman & Eagle, for a one-night bar takeover benefiting creative wellness nonprofit Strive.
The women of Strive will help transform Haymarket Whiskey Bar into a real life, throwback juke joint called Honky Tonk for Strive. Between 8 and 11 p.m., enjoy an open bar of Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Buffalo Trace specialty cocktails, and free food from The Silver Dollar. The music hall will feature a live performance of The Hellfire Four, a honky tonk quartet featuring Joan Shelley and friends with line dancing led by Co-Executive Directors of Strive, Nina Rodahaffer and Cheyenne Mize. DJ "Buffalo" Ben Townsend will be spinning classic country records in the bar area and finest honky tonk attire is encouraged!
Tickets get you all of the above for $25, with all proceeds going to Strive. Only 100 tickets will be sold, so be sure to confirm your RSVP quickly!
Founded by Cheyenne Mize and Nina Rodahaffer in 2015, Strive is a non-profit organization providing creative wellness education and services to the Louisville community.
Haymarket Whiskey Bar is located at 331 E. Market Street in downtown Louisville. This event is 21+.

Maiden Radio is Julia Purcell, Cheyenne Mize & Joan Shelley. The band hails from Louisville, Kentucky. They’re an old-time trio, favoring traditional songs from their home state, re-arranged for 3-part harmony (and three of the loveliest voices you may hear).
We're also thrilled to welcome back Kalispell, the project of Shane Leonard (of Field Report) who's in for a busy fall, with new records from both Field Report and Kalispell coming this year.
Join the Facebook event or RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org to get the show location information.
This is going to be a special night.
Louisville, Kentucky's Maiden Radio is an acoustic trio that includes Cheyenne Mize, last seen at Trinosophes playing bass and fiddle with Will Oldham and Dawn McCarthy. She's joined by Julia Purcell and Joan Shelly on assorted strings and vocals. Lovely three-part harmony and a rustic, old-timey instrumental sound define the music, making the original music blend seamlessly with traditional songs.
Detroit's Lac La Belle also creates original songs that sound like a continuation of various Americana traditions. Although the creative songwriting is the focus, this acoustic duo does justice to whatever roots music it tries its hand at. Featuring the exceptional singing of Jennie Knaggs and the stellar fingerpicking of Nick Schillace. Opening the show is a solo performance by ex-Detroiter roots music guy and longtime studio engineer Tim Pak.
Doors at 8 pm; $6 minimum donation.
Dear Friends! At this incarnation of the Dan's Loft series, I'm proud to welcome Louisville's three proudest poet daughters Joan Shelley, Julia Purcell and Cheyenne Mize of Maiden Radio. The first signees to 'Ol Kentuck Recordings back in 2011, Maiden Radio are a testament to the power of the American folk tradition and the everlasting movement of beautiful songs and lullabies. You'll enjoy yourself. I hope you'll join us. I'll be opening the show with a few new songs of my own.
